We went to London and saw the Royal Family.

My copywriting partner and I went to London on a business trip. And the last day of our trip before our flight, we decided to go check out St. Paul’s Cathedral since she had never been there and I was near tears in awe the last time I visited.

We came out of the underground and saw a lot of security guards, police officers and barricades. Turns out that the church was closed because the Queen was joined by veterans for a service commemorating the end of UK involvement in the Afghanistan war.

So weI decided to stick around and see if we would catch a glimpse of the Queen. Why not, right? It seemed like the thing to do in London.

The Magnificent St. Paul's Cathedral. One of the most beautiful places on earth. No photography is allowed inside.

Lots of security guards and police officers with intimidating looking guns. To my surprise, they didn't body check anyone. In New York City, you even have to go through security process just to cheer outside of Today Show. What a difference.

There were many people, but not as crazily mobbed as I imagined. And everyone behaved exceptionally well and polite, which was true for the whole trip in London. It was definitely one of the character traits that I wish New Yorker had in general.

If you didn't capture it on your smartphone, it must not have happened. EVERYONE was recording this event on their little devices. It was nutty.

Here comes the Queen! I'm blocked by a guy recording on his smartphone for the whole time. I didn't expect to catch this event, so I didn't have my long lens with me but I wish I did.

It was really lovely to see the Royal Family unexpectedly. More London pictures to come later.
